Twas the week before Christmas....

Well 2011 bought us a pretty busy final week leading up to Christmas. Not much time to do the shopping, I've also offered to host the big day for my extended family so the cooking is not yet over. One of my final pre-christmas cakes was for the lovely Cassie and Jose.
I was also delivering to one of my favourite venues Rivervale Barn , a beautiful purpose built barn nestled on the banks of the river Blackwater in Yateley Hampshire.

You can have a Civil Wedding or Partnership here and the gardens are just beautiful all year round.

Cassie and Jose chose a vintage style cake with touches of gold lace and satin to co-ordinate with their theme. We loved the table settings, gold crackers and gorgeous mirrored tables helped set off all the little fairylights hanging from the oak beams.

Rivervale Barn holds open days throughout the year so please contact the events team if you would like to visit. Rachelle's is one of their recommended suppliers.

Fine food at the Barns is created by the talented team at Galloping Gourmet. Just delicious.

We hope that Cassie and Jose had a fantastic day and enjoy the rest of their future together.

An organic beauty.

This weekend I delivered to the gorgeous Ramster Hall. It sits in the Surrey hills between Haslemere and Chiddingfold, both places familiar with my childhood. A private home with a licence for Wedding Ceremonies, offering a beautiful warm environment for the most perfect of Weddings.
The theme for the cake was 'Ivy' and silver baubles. My Bride Vanessa carried this throughout her stationary and floristry with fresh ivy twisting around tall candleabra and little ivy details to the placecards and menus.

I really enjoyed the organic nature of this cake with my brief to just 'grow' the ivy over the cake! I made lots of little ivy leaves from sugar in graduating shades of green.

Vanessa and I had talked about the idea of incorporating silver balls into the stand, I happened to come across the ideal solution on my travels. To add to the unusual display, the cake was also made with a twist to each tier, rather than sitting square, one on top of the other.

I really loved making this cake and it fitted beautifully into the interior of the house. Catering at the event was done by the wonderful Jacaranda who make the most beautiful and tasty food.

This Wedding was a pleasure, I hope you enjoyed reading about it.

Something a little different....

I delivered a fantastic cake this weekend for a Wedding with a 'slighty different' theme.
'The Corpse Bride' a wonderful film by Tim Burton was the inspiration for my Bride Julias cake. I was really excited about making this one and it's so nice to have a bit of free licence to create.

We call a cake like this a 'Wonky' cake and they are not as easy to make as you might think! A certain amount of construction and support is required to stop them from toppling over.

My favourite bit was the little skeletal dog! The Wedding cake was delivered to the wonderful Wooton House in Dorking. Set in 13 acres of beautiful Surrey countryside.

My Bride Julia did a fantastic job of dressing the room at the venue, giving it a dark, yet fantasy like feel for the guests to enjoy.

I'm sure you will agree it looks amazing :)

A Beautiful Venue

I can't believe it's December already, where has the year gone? Alot of it has been taken up with cakes. It's been a busy one, we've changed our name, launched a new website and moved to a fantastic new kitchen.
I wanted to mention some of my favourite venues over the course of the year and so I'll start with this one.

The beautiful Cley Windmill near Cromer (famous for it's edible crabs). I visited here in the spring on the most fantastic sunny day. It's far north on the Norfolk coast. Quite a drive, so after my delivery I felt the need to look at the sea just for 5 minutes before the long trip back to London.

Just beautiful, I can see why the crabs like it there. And what did I deliver I hear you ask.....

The 'Corsage' Mini cakes and cupcakes, one of 2011's most popular designs!

A Vintage Wedding

I made some cute little cakes  for a vintage themed Wedding this weekend. The colour scheme was deep pink and pearl with a bit of lace detail.

A selection of mix and match mini cakes with a gorgeous top cake to match. My Bride Kelly changed her mind about the colour quite a few times (but she made a great decision in the end)!

I hope you like them! x

A Creative Collaboration

Several weeks ago I spent a lovely day with a group of hugely talented individuals. I met the lovely Grace from Lilyboxdesign at Olympia in February. She was an enthusiastic floral and event stylist, looking to form a collaboration of talented individuals for a beautiful photoshoot.
The theme was soft and rustic with nudes, soft blush hues and delicate pink details. Rachelle's provided the cakes!
The gorgeous Issabelle Iles was the model for the day and all of these amazing photographs were taken by Fanni Williams creative lifestyle photographer. Some photos you will see dotted around my website.

Just beautiful, I do love a good photoshoot! And for those Brides to be dying to know where the dress is from, it's a Jenny Packham. Gorgeous.

This little minicake is one of my favourites. The gold detail gives it a real vintage feel.

I took this last picture myself! Couldn't help but pop a cake in a cup :) Thanks to all the amazingly creative people that made this such a fun photo shoot.
